When I was growing up as a child in a Colombian family, one of my fondest memories was gathering with my siblings and childhood friends around our nativity scene and sharing nine nights of prayer.  The purpose of this book is to encourage you to do the same with your children and loved ones.  It allows us to open our hearts and prepare for Christmas. Follow the prayers and instructions for each day.  Have the prayer session in the evening, so you can enjoy the lights of your Christmas tree and nativity scene.  After the prayer, offer the kids a treat.  For us, our Mom would offer us dessert, maybe a small toy, school materials, or offer whatever you feel your kids would enjoy.  But each day try to offer a different treat.  Kids love surprises. Since these prayers are for us to prepare for the wonders of our Baby Jesus’ birth, what better way than to enjoy a treat each night with family.  Also, encourage the kids to be good and participate each night, that way Baby Jesus can see how good they are and will bring them a gift for Christmas.  “The nicer the child the sweeter the gift,” Mom used to say.
